Please note: Commentaries are sent in batches over a period of several weeks. If you entered more than one book, you may not receive the commentaries at the same time.

Below is a brief commentary for your entry in the 4th Annual Writer’s Digest Self-Published e-Book Awards. If you received the incorrect review by mistake, please contact Writer’s Digest immediately at this email address. With so many books to judge/record, our judges may accidently input the incorrect review into the system. We do our best to catch all of these, but there are always a few that slip past. Thank you for your understanding~

Books are evaluated on a sliding scale of 1 to 5, with 1 meaning “needs improvement” and 5 meaning “outstanding”. This scale is strictly to provide a point of reference, it is not a cumulative score and does not reflect ranking. Our scale system only recognizes numerals; a “0” is used in place of “n/a” and is used to acknowledge that the topic does not pertain to the specific entry category.  A book of poetry for example, may not necessarily have a plot or characters, so a “0” (“n/a”) may be noted instead in order to show that it was not overlooked. This does not reflect as portion of the scale.

Great title. It definitely gets attention! The dog’s pretty cute, too. Occasional glitches: “waste time while waiting period”? 2%. I like your writing style, though – very direct and clear.
Damn! Shocking turn in this first story. The last image is powerful and a little disturbing. It’s a pleasure to read a book that’s so intent on storytelling, not on sounding “literary.” The book is rich with characters and plots. Some beautiful wisdom from the policeman, 14%.
“but they knew some German curse words from their parents,” funny! 23%. I love this band of misfits taking on the Red Army. Priceless. 24%. I don’t want to entirely take away the quirks in your use of language – it lends a definite charm to the story – but it might be good to pass it through a native English speaker to find any subtleties of grammar that might get in the way.
I also enjoy the way you don’t mind telling a small story. They’re quite enjoyable. And the sense of humor is delightful and rare. It is quite a treasure, also, of hard and violent times under the Germans and Russians. Such insights! I love this dialogue about bureaucracy at 82%. Hilarious! “I am so sorry Rivka” – such a heartbreaking moment! 93%.

Sterling Heights Art Festival on July 30, 2016. Signing books event with 25 local writers. For me it was disaster, it was battle like Waterloo for Napoleon! I did not sell any book! It's never happened before. Life is full of surprise. What is my answer? I am writing! Already I have manuscript for 205 pages book.
Next festival will be on August 27, 201 at Slovakian Church, corner Ryan and 18 Mile Rd. I will be over there selling my books. Everybody is welcome.

Today on 7-23-2016 I did try to sell my books at flea market in the Shelby Twp. Selling began 9 AM. At 12 was so hot and left park 12:45. Nature is stronger than human. I did not sell any book.
But it was lot of talking, lot of promotion.
So see me next weekend July 30, 2016 at Sterling Heights Festival. Selling and signing books will be inside Library.
